In the interest of fostering a friendly, helpful, and safe community, we have a handful of rules for members.
These rules are strictly enforced; moderators will immediately remove offending content and depending on the severity of the violation they are allowed to respond with public and private warnings, bans, and IP-bans of responsible parties.
1. No promotion or sharing of information relating to any illegal or harmful activity. This rule's a bit weird because legality is inconsistent relating to intellectual property, technology, and open source... and at the end of the day we support the free and open exchange of that information. This rule is in place to make things simple and conform with our forum host's requirements, reducing our members' liability and keeping us online.
2. No cursing, threats, insults, or posts specifically intended to damage another member's livelihood or standing on this site. Take personal squabbles elsewhere. If you believe another member is making fraudulent or dangerous claims or bringing down the overall safety and quality of the forum, contact a moderator with your concerns. Constructive reviews and criticisms are allowed within the Marketplace section of the Forum relating to the performance of members in sales/trades/commercial capacities.
3. No political or social debates except as they pertain to free exchange of information and proliferation of our technology. This one is a bit loosely defined, but basically as soon as a statement is divisive enough to start an argument with another member, moderators reserve the right to remove all offending content. We assume all of our members support roughly the same free and decentralized technologies and ideas. Picking away at this further to debate unrelated issues is counterproductive. (We may introduce an off-topic section in the future, but currently this rule applies to the entire Forum)
4. No public posting of electronic or physical addresses, financial or personal information, or identifying media that might infringe upon the privacy of another member. We also strongly recommend that vendors and members (especially in the marketplace) only communicate their own contact information via Private Messages, but this is up to you...
5. No advertising, for sale listings, or external links to vendors in any section other than the Marketplace. If you wish to respond to a question or topic in the main member section with a listing or sale link, do so in plain text with the vendor's name. Alternatively, create a topic in the Deals subsection of the Marketplace and then create an internal link to it to it in the relevant topic.
6. Observe all the wider rules of our forum host's usage policies. No harassment, fraud, spam, the usual...
Thanks!
